The Scholarship Committee selects one senior from each of the seven high schools in the Buncombe County and the Asheville City schools systems to receive a scholarship based on citizenship, academic achievement and need. The amount of the scholarship grant is $3000, and is paid over the first two years of college in quarterly installments. A grade point average of 2.6 is required to continue to receive the grants after the first semester.
The selection process begins in December each year with the
awards being made at a special Civitan Awards Ceremony in the late winter.
